Rochard Wise Man King in Yellow Limoges Box

Robed in yellow and bearing his gift, one of the three wise men arrives in this Rochard Nativity box. The king is modeled and hand-painted on porcelain in Limoges, France.

Following the Star

The story of the Magi, who traveled from the East to honor the newborn Christ, has been retold in art for nearly two thousand years. Their arrival is celebrated at Epiphany on January 6th. Rochard gives this king a robe of warm yellow, and every detail is painted by hand, so each figure varies slightly.

Building the Crèche

• A Rochard Nativity design
• Belongs in a Nativity, Christmas or Epiphany display
• Look for the other kings to complete the trio of Magi

Gifts for the Season of Giving

A wise man carrying a gift is a fitting symbol for any Christmas present. This box suits a parish volunteer, a choir director or a family that sets up the Nativity together every December. In France, the Galette des Rois is eaten at Epiphany in honor of the kings, so it also makes a thoughtful hostess present for that celebration.

Display it on a mantel, a sideboard or beside the Christmas tree, and move it a little closer to the manger each day until Epiphany, as some families do.
